Hygiene, Safety & Professional Workstation Organization

Professional hygiene standards, tool disinfection, workstation preparation, sanitary regulations, client & stylist safety.

Hair Structure & Individual Characteristics

Hair types, texture, porosity, elasticity, growth direction. Understanding individual characteristics for technique selection.

Professional Tools & Proper Usage

Types of scissors and their purpose, combs and round brushes, hairdryers & styling tools. Proper handling, coordination and precision exercises.

Client Communication Psychology & Professional Consultation Basics

Initial consultation, identifying client wishes, managing expectations, building trust.

Hand & Body Positioning (Professional Ergonomics)

The core of the Makiev Method™ — finger positioning, wrist movement, body alignment, ergonomics for career longevity.

Head & Face Shape Analysis: Correcting Flaws & Highlighting Advantages

Anatomy of the head, head shapes, face types, how structure influences haircut results. Mannequin analysis.

Partings, Elevation & Basic Forms in Hairdressing

Center, diagonal, radial, horizontal & vertical partings. Fundamentals of elevation. Basic forms: One Length, Graduation, Layers.

Professional Hair Washing & Scalp Massage

Product selection, water temperature control, massage basics, hair preparation for styling.

Basic Hairstyling (Blow-Dry Fundamentals)

Airflow control, volume creation, directional styling, round brush work, finishing techniques.

What You’ll Learn

Maintain professional hygiene and safety standards

Organize the workstation efficiently and safely

Understand hair structure and different hair types

Confidently and correctly use professional tools

Communicate effectively with clients and conduct basic consultations

Maintain proper hand and body positioning during work

Analyze head and face shapes, identify advantages and areas for correction

Create clean partings, control elevation and work with basic cutting forms

Perform professional hair washing and scalp massage

Execute basic hairstyling (Blow-Dry) at salon level

Certificate

Certificate of Attendance — Makiev International Hair Academy, Vancouver, BC. Issued upon completion to confirm your participation and demonstrated skills. Not equivalent to a PTIRU-approved credential.

Important Notice

Makiev International Hair Academy offers stand-alone skill-building intensives and workshops for personal enrichment and technique development. These programs are not approved by the Private Training Institutions Regulatory Unit (PTIRU) and do not lead to a career training credential, diploma, or license to practice hairdressing in British Columbia.

A Certificate of Attendance is issued upon completion to confirm your participation and demonstrated skills. This certificate is not equivalent to a PTIRU-approved credential.

Refund Policy

  • 14+ days before start: Full refund minus $50 CAD administrative fee
  • 7–13 days before start: 50% refund
  • Less than 7 days: No refund; one transfer to a future date permitted

Any intensive or workshop with fewer than 3 enrolled students may be cancelled. Full refund issued in this case.
